Alvionex is a food supplement as defined under Directive 2002/46/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on food supplements, as implemented in Dutch law by the Warenwetbesluit voedingssupplementen. It is not a medicinal product and does not require authorisation by the Medicines Evaluation Board (College ter Beoordeling van Geneesmiddelen – CBG-MEB).
